31 Weeks!

I feel so far behind on posting.  It's been a busy week.  The biggest news is that we're at 31.5 weeks now.  I let Wednesday pass without my usual "here is what's happening with our babies" post.

At 31 weeks, they should be around 4 lbs (give or take).  They should gain about half a pound a week from here on out.  I guess that means that I should be gaining a pound of "baby" a week.  It's so interesting that they can grow that fast.  At this point, they are mainly just gaining fat, and their bodies should be about as long as they're going to be when they're born.  Their iris color should be developing around this time.  We think that surely they will have brown eyes, because we both have brown eyes.  You never know, though.

These babies are kicking up a storm now.  It really looks like they're trying to escape sometimes.  Our little girl seems to have gotten her second wind in the kicking department and is trying to keep up with her brother.  We're trying to capture some good video of it.

If we make it to 36 weeks, that means that we only have 5 weeks to go.  If we get all the way to 38 weeks, we only have 7 weeks to go.  I just can't wait to meet them!

  1. Leslie, do either of your parents or either of Jason's parents have blue or green eyes? My mom has blue (so I carry a blue recessive) and Josh's mom has green (so he also has the recessive) and supposedly this gives our little guy a 25% chance at light eyes because both of us are carriers. Just curious if you and Jason both carry the gene?

  3. If your mom and dad are too busy tracking down other babies around the country, just call us....we'll come! Can't wait! BTW--thanks for your prayers--we'll catch you up on everything when we see you.

  4. Katie, I think all of our parents have brown eyes, but Jason's sister has blue eyes and my niece, Tori, has blue eyes. So we must have some recessive blue in there somewhere. =)

  5. Don't forget that kid's eyes can change color the first year, so you might have to wait a little longer to know their final color. I am a little jealous you guys get a surprise, Drew and I both have blue eyes, so we know all our kids will have them.

Wow, 5 to 7 weeks!! That's so close. Do you have your bags packed? Don't forget to pack a bathrobe, a nice soft cozy one that does not show stains.

Man, every time you go a couple days without posting I always think you are in the hospital giving birth.

  6. Amanda, we don't have our bags packed yet. We were just saying yesterday that we really need to do that soon, or at least make a list. The robe is a great idea. Hope you all are doing well!
